State Playoffs--Final Four Finish!

• The girls gave it all they had, but came up a bit short with a season ending loss to Lassiter.

Elite Eight Match vs Norcross

• Thrilling 3 straight set victory over Norcross!  The stands were filled with cowbell ringing fans!!  On

        to the Final Four!!

​

Sweet Sixteen Match vs Camden County

•  A six hour long bus ride and overnight stay could not stop our Longhorns!  A three straight set win

        to advance to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history!

​

Round One Match vs Kennesaw Mountain

• The Longhorns cruised to a three straight set victory to advance to the Sweet Sixteen!

Week #9- Area Tourney Week

What an incredible roller coaster ride it was this week for our Varsity Longhorns!  Here is a recap of the week:

​

• We started the Area Tourney on Tuesday with a win over North Forsyth.  This win advanced us to the second round against South on Wednesday.  The girls played well and gave it their all but came up a bit short losing in three sets 25-21, 26-28, and 21-25.  On Thursday we had to play the semi final match vs North again.  We came out on top once again!  :)

​

• For the 2nd year in a row our Longhorns advanced to the Area Championship Match....and what a match it was!!   The girls truly played their hearts out and I have never coached a match as thrilling as this one was!  After having already played three sets in the previous match vs North, our girls battled with everything they had to the very end.  Unfortunately, the final score was South on top in 5 unbelievable sets.  20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, and 9-15.  It was a heartbreaking loss after having played eight straight sets, but NOTHING to hang our heads about.  We earned 2nd place in the Area Tourney and a HOME PLAYOFF MATCH for round one on Wednesday.  Whooo Hoooo!

Wednesday:  Round One of the State Playoffs at HOME vs Kennesaw Mountain.  Estimated start time is 6:00 PM

Week #7 and #8

• Congratulations to our fabulous Freshmen Team and coaches for the 2nd place finish at the Area Tourney and for their undefeated regular season area schedule.  It was amazing to watch these girls grow this season and I could not be more proud of all of them!  Coach Jane and Coach P, we are so thankful for all you have done this season with our girls!

 

• Yesterday our JV Team brought home the JV Area Championship with a big win over West in the finals!!!  The girls came out strong and dominated only dropping one set throughout the tourney!  A huge thank you goes out to Coach Edwin and Coach Hannaford for the awesome work you put in with this team!  

 

• Our #2 AJC State Ranked Varsity Team had a big win over Johns Creek last week.  We now enter the high stakes part of our season with the Area Tournament beginning on Tuesday at South Forsyth.   We are the second seed and will take on North Forsyth at 6:15 PM on Tuesday.  In order to advance to the State Playoffs and to continue our season, Lambert must place in the top four of the tournament.

Semi Finals and Finals of the Area Tourney at South  (5:00 and 6:15...please see brackets- bus time TBD)

Week #6

• Varsity went 3-0 in area play with a 2 set win over North Forsyth on Tuesday.  Thursday night we faced #1 in 6A and 28-1 Alpharetta.  It was such a hard fight, be we ended up losing a heartbreaker in five sets.  I was so proud of the fight the girls showed!

​

• JV and Freshmen teams both won their area matches against North Forsyth on Monday.  That puts them at 3-0 in area play as well.  On Wednesday JV made quick work of Fellowship Christian.  Freshmen took it to both West and Dunwoody. Nice week ladies and coaches!

Both the JV and Freshmen teams are working to go undefeated in the regular season and earn #1 seeds for the area tourney!  With two wins on Monday this will be a reality!  Go get em!

Week #5

What a FANTASTIC week for our Longhorns!  The new AJC rankings now have our Varsity ranked #3 in the state for 7A!!

​

• DIG Gold was a wonderful success!  Thanks so much to Leigh Jones and her amazing volunteers for a fantastic event!  Another thank you to all the freshmen and JV players and coaches who came out and supported the cause and our Varsity!  

• Our Varsity team pulled off an absolutely AWESOME win over #2 Lassiter!  It was such a great night for our program and I could not be more proud of our girls!  So gutsy!!

• Congratulations to Kendal Barrett on reaching her 2,000th career assist against Lassiter!  What an accomplishment!  We are all so proud of you!

• The JV had a great showing at the Norcross Tournament.  They plowed through everyone in pool play and then lost a close semi final match against Dunwoody.  Great job ladies!

Week #4

We had a great week of Longhorn Volleyball last week!  

 

• Varsity won their first area matches taking down West and Milton.  We also made quick work of Centennial and Galloway on Thursday.  

• JV improved their record to 18-3 with wins over West, Cambridge, and Milton!  

• Freshmen had a nice week with two big wins over Milton and Riverwood along with a close three set loss to West. They landed in the silver bracket at the Georgia Challenge Tourney on Saturday.

Tuesday:

All teams practice from 4-6.  We are getting to the high stakes part of our seasons.  It is time to focus and amp it up!

 

Wednesday:

9th and JV practice from 4-5:30  (Note the time change!  Junior Longhorns have a home match at 6:00)

Thursday:

Dig Gold Event!!!  Our #6 in the state ranked Varsity Longhorns will take on #2 Lassiter at 6:00 for a best of five match. We will also host our 2nd Annual Dig Gold Event.   This event will benefit an amazing cause, CURE Childhood Cancer.  All teams are asked to attend and wear their Dig Gold Shirts.  We are in need of baked goods and for volunteers to help decorate for this wonderful event. Please look for an additional email outlining our needs.

 

Freshmen and JV will practice at the Rec from 4-5:30 and then head over to Lambert for the event.  Thank you in advance for your support!

Week #3

Another full week of fantastic volleyball for our Longhorns!  Here is a recap...

 

 

• Our Varsity started off the week with two quick wins over Chattahoochee and Chamblee.  On Thursday we split with a heartbreaking three set loss to Norcross and a two set win over Mill Creek. The All City Challenge took place yesterday and it is arguably the most competitive playdate in the state.  Our Longhorns took on #2 nationally ranked Walton and gave them the fight of their lives with eventually falling to them in three sets.  It was truly an amazing and gutsy performance!  From there the Varsity had a HUGE three set win over 7A rival Etowah (whoo hoo!) and made quick work of Harris County.  It was a great day of volleyball! 

 

• Our JV had a light but successful week going 2-0 over Chattahoochee and Centennial taking their record to 14-3!  Way to go ladies and coaches!

 

• Our Freshmen team split Monday's matches winning over Centennial and had their first loss to Norcross in three sets.  Yesterday they played in the Norcross Freshmen tourney and had big wins over Woodstock, Parkview, Hebron, and Grayson.  They eventually placed 2nd in the Silver Bracket.  Great work this week girls!

Week #2

Another great week of volleyball for all of our Longhorn Teams!

• Varsity moves to 9-3 with huge wins over North Oconee, Mill Creek, Hebron, and Cambridge.  We had a heartbreaking 3 set loss to Alpharetta on Thursday, but thankfully we will have another shot at them a bit later on in the season. Very proud of the progress we have seen!  Our varsity is currently ranked 6th among 7A schools in the state of Georgia according to the AJC!  

• Our JV team had an awesome showing at the Sequoyah Classic Tourney placing 2nd. (Big wins over Cherokee, Northview, North Oconee and East Cowetta. They beat South in 2 sets 25-16 abd 25-3!!!  Whooo Hooo!!)  Awesome Job!  Earlier in the week they beat West twice, beat Central, and had a loss to St. Pius.   

• Our 9th grade team split wins with Woodstock on Monday and swept St. Pius on Wednesday.  Great job girls!

A couple quick reminders....

• Please remember that if an athlete is out sick for the school day, they are not allowed to practice that afternoon or play in a match that evening.  All athletes must attend at least half the school day in order to practice or play in a match.

• If you are scheduled to work gate/concessions/scoring table/line judge, parents are expected to work the shift.
